About me...
My name is Jane Hooker, and I've been teaching science (and more recently, math) at Fredon School for 18 years. I graduated with a degree in Biology from Hood College and worked as a scientist prior to going into education. I received my teaching certificate from Centenary College.
I am passionate about motivating and inspiring my students to learn about the world around them through labs, debates, discussions, technology, cooperative learning, projects, and creativity.
I also believe in providing students with authentic learning experiences by providing opportunities for my students to do real science, such as conducting experiments, collecting data, and drawing conclusions. This helps them develop the critical thinking skills they need to be successful in and out of the classroom.
I am committed to creating a positive and supportive learning environment where all students feel safe and respected. I believe that every student has the potential to succeed, and I am here to help them reach their full potential.
In my free time, I enjoy traveling and spending time outdoors running, biking, golfing and hiking with my husband and our adult children.
